There are generally two common methods for mug printing:

Heat Transfer Printing: This method involves printing the desired design onto a special heat transfer paper using a regular inkjet printer. The paper is then placed onto the mug, and heat and pressure are applied to transfer the design onto the mug’s surface. This method is commonly used for smaller quantities and is suitable for intricate designs and full-color prints.

Sublimation Printing: This method involves using special sublimation inks, which dye the ceramic coating of the mug when exposed to high heat and pressure. The desired design is printed onto a transfer paper using a sublimation printer. The paper is then placed onto the mug, and heat is applied using a heat press machine to transfer the design. Sublimation printing produces vibrant and long-lasting prints, which are dishwasher-safe and resistant to fading.

Both methods result in durable, high-quality prints on mugs, allowing for endless customization options. Mug printing is popular for personal use, gifts, promotional items, and branding purposes.
